Hello. My name is Levi Breederland. I'm a web designer, looking for work in the Edmonton, Alberta area. I know the arts of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL, from self-teaching and from The Art Institute of Vancouver. I brandish my skills creating sites of useable, clean, responsive content. This is a collection of my favourite projects, web and otherwise, and here's my résumé.
KaitlynAndLevi.com
This site, a work-in-progress, is an online invite/RSVP system along with general info and photo galleries for my upcoming wedding. It allows guests to respond to their invitation no matter if it's sent by mail or digitally, supplying info regarding how many guests are coming and what parts of the event they are coming to. Upcoming features will include photo and video galleries, including a invite-only live stream of the ceremony.
Car Crier
A classmate, Scott Balfour, and I came up with an idea for drivers to help each other be more responsible. Our site allows drivers to post about others, identifying them by their license plate. Our friend Kyle Materi joined the team, and we realized that what we were doing was taking the commercial-car idea of a "How's my driving?" sticker and allowing anyone to comment on anyone.
Kumaroo
A text-based racing game, this ongoing project was built with the idea of the racing coach in mind. The user selects a car and driver, and then heads to the track. They then give the driver instructions for the ten important places in the track. As they progress through the season, they can get new drivers and cars, as well as buying upgrades and such.
PHP Blog
My first full-fledged foray into PHP, this was an attempt to build a functioning blog platform. It turned out quite nicely, with working comments; as a bonus, I implemented Gravatar icons for the commenters.
Worms Soundboard
What started out as a fun joke, this soundboard of clips from Worms Armageddon turned out to be a well-used piece of fun.
Absolut Wild Tea
This was a project to prove that we were competent in our Adobe Photoshop skills. We were given a choice: either make a poster inspired by the well-known adverts made for Absolut Vodka, or to make a public-awareness poster about alcohol in the same style. I chose to make mine as and advertisement for the recently-discontinued Absolut Wild Tea. It was chosen as the school's annual winner for best advert concept.
